Keyboard Stickers for HP Laptops: How to Get the Right Fit on Pavilion, Victus, OMEN and More
Keyboard stickers for HP laptops only look good when every piece matches its key. HP sells Pavilion, Victus, OMEN, Envy, Spectre, EliteBook, ProBook and OmniBook laptops in many sizes and generations, and keyboards inside the same series are not always the same. This guide shows how to find your exact HP model, what changes from one HP keyboard to another and how to pick an image that works on keys.
Find your exact HP model in 30 seconds
- Press Fn + Esc. On most HP laptops this opens the HP System Information window with the product name, for example HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eh1xxx.
- Check the product label. It is usually under the laptop. On some models it sits on the side or the back, or inside the battery area.
- Copy the full name with the code, like 15-eh1 or 16-r0. The serial number is unique to your laptop and does not tell us the keyboard.
- Still unsure? A clear photo of the keyboard taken from above is enough for us to check.
Two laptops sold as "Pavilion 15" can be built on different chassis with different keyboards, so the full code tells us much more than the series name.
What changes between HP keyboards
These details are the reason a generic sticker sheet rarely fits an HP laptop well.
| Detail | Where you find it | What it means for stickers |
|---|---|---|
| Numeric keypad | Many 15 to 17 inch models, most gaming models | More stickers and a different right side of the keyboard |
| Copilot key | Newer Windows laptops, from 2024 onward | Replaces a key on the bottom row, so generations differ |
| Fingerprint reader | In the power key or on a pad next to the keys on some models | Leave it bare: a sticker stops it from reading your finger |
| Pointing stick | Some EliteBook models, between G, H and B | Must stay uncovered |
| Layout | US, UK, Italian, French, Spanish and more | Changes the shape of Enter and left Shift |
Popular HP families at a glance
- Pavilion and OmniBook: the everyday models. The 15 and 16 inch versions often include a numeric keypad; the 14 inch versions usually do not. HP is moving many consumer models to the OmniBook name, so check the code rather than the series.
- Victus and OMEN: gaming keyboards, often with a numeric keypad and RGB backlight. With stickers on, the light shows as a glow around each key. Our backlit keyboard stickers guide explains what to expect.
- Envy and Spectre: slim keyboards, often with a fingerprint reader built into or next to the keyboard. Leave the reader uncovered.
- EliteBook and ProBook: business keyboards, sometimes with a pointing stick in the middle and extra function keys.
Choosing an image for an HP keyboard
- Think in tiles. Each key is a separate piece, so bold shapes and large faces read well while small details get lost in the gaps.
- The letters get covered. Image stickers suit people who type without looking at the keys.
- Match the body color. The frame around the keys stays visible: silver HP laptops suit bright images, black and blue ones suit darker artwork.
- Send the original file in the highest resolution you have, not a screenshot.
- Use images you have the right to use, like your photos, your drawings or commissioned art.
Finishes
- Classic vinyl: sharp, vivid print with a scratch and water resistant surface.
- Holographic upgrade: a laminate that adds a moving light effect on top of the print. It comes in four styles: broken glass, rainbow, stars and glitter.
Applying the stickers on an HP keyboard
- Turn the laptop off and clean the keys with a slightly damp cloth, then let them dry completely.
- Start from the top left, at Esc, and work row by row.
- Align each sticker with its key and press from the center to the edges.
- Skip the fingerprint reader and any pointing stick.
- Press every edge once more after the last row.
Choose in this order
- Press Fn + Esc and write down the full product name.
- Check your layout: US, UK or your country's version.
- Note any numeric keypad, Copilot key or fingerprint reader.
- Pick an image with bold shapes.
- Choose classic or holographic finish and send model, layout and image together.
