Custom Nintendo Switch 2 Skins With Your Own Photo: A Complete Guide

A custom Switch 2 skin covers the console front and back, the Joy-Con and the dock. The trick is placing your image so the screen does not hide it.

Custom Nintendo Switch 2 skin by Mind Art Atelier

A custom Nintendo Switch 2 skin is a set of thin vinyl pieces cut for the console, the Joy-Con and the dock, printed with a photo or artwork you choose. The difference between a skin that looks great and one that looks random is mostly about where the image ends up, because the screen and the split between the parts change how it is seen.

What a full custom set covers

Our custom Switch 2 skin set covers:

  • Console back: the largest uninterrupted surface, perfect for the main image.
  • Console front frame: the border around the screen.
  • Left and right Joy-Con: front and back pieces for each controller.
  • Dock: the front of the dock, which is what you see when the console sits on the TV stand.

Every piece is precision cut, so buttons, ports and vents stay free.

Custom photo, ready-made design or pattern

Three ways to style a Switch 2.

Your photo or art Ready-made design Pattern
Uniqueness One of a kind Shared with other buyers Shared
Best for Gifts, pets, couples, original art Fans of a style Clean, minimal look
Image placement Planned around your photo Already planned Works anywhere

Where to place your image

  • Put the main subject on the back. The front is mostly screen, so a face placed in the middle of the front simply disappears.
  • Use the Joy-Con for supporting elements. Patterns, colors or details from the main image look great on the controllers.
  • Remember the split. Joy-Con and console are separate parts. An image that runs across them can look cut when you detach the controllers.
  • Send the original file. Large, uncompressed images print much sharper than screenshots.
  • Use images you have the right to use, like your photos, your drawings or commissioned art.

Finishes

  • Standard print: sharp, vivid colors that show every detail of a photo.
  • Holographic upgrade: a laminate that adds a moving light effect on top of the print. It comes in four styles: broken glass, rainbow, stars and glitter.

Applying the skin

  1. Turn the console off and clean every surface with a lint-free cloth.
  2. Start with the largest piece, the back, aligning it with a corner or cutout.
  3. Smooth from the center to the edges to push out air.
  4. Finish with the Joy-Con and the dock, then press all edges firmly.

Choose in this order

  1. Pick the main image for the back.
  2. Decide the style of the Joy-Con: same image, details or plain color.
  3. Decide if you want the dock covered too.
  4. Choose standard or holographic finish.
  5. Send your files with notes on what must stay visible.

A skin protects against scratches and wear, not against drops. It is also a decorative accessory made by us, not a Nintendo product. Design yours with the custom Switch 2 skin, or explore all our console skins, including the Steam Machine and AYN Thor.
